Mr. Taylor:Well, Linda, I just wanted to ①check in with you and see ②where we’re at on selecting a college.
Linda:Everything’s going great, Mr. Taylor. I got acceptance letters from three of the five schools I applied to.
Mr. Taylor: Glad to hear that, Linda. Which schools accepted you?
Linda: The University of Iowa, Northwestern University, and the University of Illinois. I haven’t heard back yet from Iowa State or Michigan.
Mr. Taylor:Let’s see, your SAT scores are quite high, your total is 2278. You could probably get into a better school than these. Is there any reason you didn’t apply to some of the more 1)prestigious schools?
Linda: Well, as you know, first the application fee is quite high at the better schools, and my parents and I thought it would be better to apply to as many schools as possible, so paying a smaller fee allowed us to do that.
Mr. Taylor: Sounds good. Any other reason?
Linda: Well, of course, money. I’ve got two younger brothers, only two and three years younger than me. By the time I’m a 2)senior in college, our family will have three children in college. That’s a lot to pay for.
Mr. Taylor: It sure is. But you’ve had 3)consistently high grades, and this great SAT score. You should be able to get scholarships. ......
